The President of BADEA

H. E. Dr. Sidi Ould Tah

The Board of Governors of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) in its 40th Annual Meetings held on April 7th 2015 in Kuwait has unanimously elected Dr. Sidi Ould TAH as President of the Bank, Dr. Sidi Ould TAH took office on July 1st , 2015.
Prior to joining BADEA, Dr. TAH held the positions of Minister of economy and finance and Minister of economic affairs and development in Mauritania (2008-2015). He also served as an Advisor to both the President of the Republic and the Prime of minister of Mauritania (2006-2008).
In addition, he was a member of several ministerial councils, boards, and committees, including the chair of national statistics Council, Permanent secretary of the Presidential Council for the investment, member of Board of central bank of Mauritania, Dr. TAH was the Governor for Mauritania at the World Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, the African Development Bank, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and several other Arab and African institutions.

 

Dr. TAH, a holder of a PhD in Economics from Nice-Sophia-Antipolis University and a DEA (Diplome d’Etudes Approfondies) in Economics from Paris VII University, has also completed executive programs in Investment, Leadership, Asset Management, and Financial Engineering at Harvard Institute for International Development (USA), London Business School (UK), and Swiss Finance Institute (Switzerland).

Dr. TAH has excellent command of Arabic, French and English languages and working knowledge Spanish and Portuguese.

Dr. TAH received several medals and awards, most notably the Knight Medal of the national merit Order of Mauritania and Senegal’s most prestigious National Order of the Lion as well Officer of the national order of Tchad.
